Blantyre-based giants FCB Nyasa Bullets Women on Sunday beat Lilongwe-based Civil Service (Civo) United Women 1-0 to lead the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership with a clean sheet after two rounds.
The away win at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe monitored on Mpira TV, means Bullets Women lead the 10-team pack on better goal difference following a six points tie with second-placed champions Silver Strikers Ladies of Lilongwe, who beat newly-promoted Chitoliro Heroines of Blantyre 2-1.
So far, Bullets Women are the only side yet to concede after scoring four goals as they began their campaign with a 3-0 thrashing of newly-promoted side Chitoliro Heroines a week ago.
Their latest victory, which saw Vanessa Issa scoring the priceless goal in the 74th minute, also means Bullets Women have beaten Civo Women for the first time in the elite league as they drew 1-1 before losing 1-0 in the inaugural 2025/26 season.
Bullets Women coach Maggie Chombo-Sadiki said they are satisfied with their straight victories and they will strive to maintain the momentum in their next fixtures.
“This season, we are determined to win the league title. We are taking one game at a time to achieve our goal,” she said.
In another fiery clash on Sunday, Mighty Wanderers Queens recovered from a poor start to secure an emphatic 5-1 victory over debutants Fact Ladies at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
Faluna Umali scored a brace for the Nomads while Atuweni Njilima and Tawina Kawaga notched the other goals. Fact got their consolation goal through Evelyn Dallas. The Queens rolled out their campaign last week with a 5-1 away loss to Civo Women.
Meanwhile, Rumphi Sisters anchor the table without a point. Kukoma Ntopwa Women and Chitoliro Heroines also do not have points, but they are eighth and ninth, respectively, due to superior goal difference.
National Women’s Football Association chairperson Adelaide Migogo said they are happy with the league’s competitiveness so far.
